The Upper Peninsula Environment is published four times per year. The Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition welcomes thoughtful discussion on a variety of environmental topics relevant to the U.P.

The article on pages 2-3, published in the January 2019 Winter (725 KB pdf)  Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition (UPEC), Newsletter, discusses how and why local residents led by our own Nancy Haun organized a grass-roots movement to oppose the proposed Summit Lake Wind Farm project. The group became Friends of the Huron Mountains, a Michigan non-profit corporation. Thank you Nancy (and Jim). It’s a pleasure to be associated with you in defense of our heritage.
The referendum is scheduled for May 7.
