Though located in Arvon Township and not in immediate danger of destruction from the current wind project. This historic site would be affected by the change in the area. with turbines located nearby.
It is worth reading the fascinating history of this Quarry, and the railroad that never ran. It is a story of a little engine that couldn’t, and the first and last time any attempt was made to do any major construction in the Huron Mountains. While equipment and technology has changed since 1889 – there are no existing roads at this time to even get the massive equipment they use into the area and the granite rock and slate have not changed one iota. It still has to be dynamited. $2 Million, Railroad Scandal – Iron Range & Huron Bay Railroad
