UK-based developer Renewable Energy Systems (RES) is considering the installation of up to 50 wind turbines in the US state of Michigan, local news provider WLUC reports.
The company has proposed building a wind farm powered by between 30 and 50 turbines in L’Anse township, northwestern Michigan. According to senior development manager Mason Anderson, the area presents good opportunities for wind power development as wind is currently one of the cheapest power sources.

The state is conducting a research related to the project in order to assess potential tax revenues. Meanwhile, RES is carrying out wind and wildlife studies that will help it assess the scheme’s feasibility.

The construction of a 20-mile (32-km) transmission network is also envisaged in the project.

RES expects to have an open house with the L’Anse community at the start of this year to present more information about the development and receive community feedback.
